The term USB stands for Universal Serial Bus, as the name implies it is universal form of communication which is even now supported by all hardware and software that has USB host.

This works through Asynchronous Serial Protocol, meaning there is no clock shared between the sender and receiver.

The four high-speed lanes, two sideband pins, two USB 2.0 pins and one configuration pin can be used for Alternate Mode transmission.

The modes are configured using vendor-defined messages through the configuration channel.

USB Type-C devices also support power currents of 1.5 A and 3.0 A over the 5 V power bus in addition to baseline 900 m A; devices can either negotiate increased USB current through the configuration line, or they can support the full Power Delivery specification using both BMC-coded configuration line and legacy BFSK-coded VBUS line.

Alternate Mode dedicates some of the physical wires in the Type-C cable for direct device-to-host transmission of alternate data protocols. The mv BF-M-FC-S contains high capacity condensers with switching electronics for transferring stored energy of the condensers to external flash LEDs.It is possible to connect 2 pushbuttons/switches to the 8-pin header (CON3 - Control connector). There are two version of mv BF-M-FC-S: The sensor's optical midpoint is in the center of the board (Figure 21: intersection point of the holes diagonals). The pin assignment corresponds to the description of 'R' version. While mv Blue FOX is connected and powered via standard USB, it is possible to connect additional power via circular connector (only power; the data lines must be disconnected! Only in this case, the power switch will change the power supply, if the current entry via standard USB is equal to or under the power supply of "circular connector".Interference suppression and protection measures are required when a DC power supply line with a length of 30 m is used or the motor is used on a DC bus.An EMI filter is to be installed in the DC supply cable with a small as possible distance to the motor controller/motor.The Type-C plug connects to both hosts and devices, replacing various Type-B and Type-A connectors and cables with a standard meant to be future-proof, similar to Apple Lightning and Thunderbolt. The 24-pin double-sided connector provides four power/ground pairs, two differential pairs for USB 2.0 data bus (though only one pair is implemented in a Type-C cable), four pairs for high-speed data bus, two sideband use pins, and two configuration pins for cable orientation detection, dedicated biphase mark code (BMC) configuration data channel, and VCONN 5 V power for active cables. It excels in applications requiring real-time, high-speed manipulation of hundreds of CAN frames and signals such as bus monitoring, automation control, and more. The NI‑XNET device‑driven DMA engine enables the onboard processor to move CAN frames and signals between the interface and the user program without CPU interrupts, minimizing message latency and freeing host processor time for processing complex applications.

You can insert the plug both ways and it will still be a valid USB 2 connection, as usb 2.0 does not negotiate the pinning. Flip the plug 180 degrees and the same pins will connect in the same order. Your board should connect both together for maximum connectivity. There is no ID pin, as that's only implemented on plugs.…
